Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-10-18
The short version
- Skirmish II has no accounts and no sign-up. We do not collect your name, email address, or any other personal data.
- Single-player games run entirely on your own device.
- Online play passes game commands through a relay between the two players in a room. The relay keeps only anonymous totals — never who played.
- Today the ad slots show the project's own placeholders. When advertising through Google AdSense is activated, Google may use cookies to serve ads — see Advertising below.
Who operates this site
Skirmish II is an open-source browser game, operated by Claudio Olmedo ("Skirmish II", "we", "us"). The site is skirmish.online, and the source code is public at github.com/claudioolmedo/skirmish.
What we collect
Nothing personal. There are no accounts, no registration forms, and no analytics trackers run by us. We do not ask for, receive, or store names, email addresses, or other information that identifies you.
Playing single-player
A single-player match runs completely inside your browser, on your device. No game data leaves your device when you play alone.
Playing online
Online matches are one-versus-one between two players who share a room link. Because both players' browsers must stay in perfect sync, your game commands (unit orders, builds, and similar in-game actions) travel through a relay service hosted on Cloudflare, which forwards them between the two players in the room. The relay does not run the game and does not keep match records.
So the game can stay healthy and improve, the relay counts matches in aggregate only. It stores totals like these:
- how many matches were played,
- their total duration, measured in game ticks,
- how many matches fell out of sync ("desyncs"),
- totals per server region (for example, North America West).
The relay stores no IP addresses, no per-match records, and no player identifiers. These counters cannot be traced back to any individual player. Match replays, when offered, are recorded by your own browser and saved only if you choose to download them.
Storage in your browser
The site saves two small preferences in your browser's local storage, on your device only:
- your graphics quality choice, and
- whether you dismissed the advertising notice.
This site sets no tracking cookies of its own. You can clear local storage at any time through your browser settings; the site will simply ask again.
Advertising
The ad slots on this site are always labeled "Advertisement". Today they show the project's own house placeholders — friendly messages from Skirmish II itself, not third-party ads.
When Google AdSense is activated on this site, ads will be served by Google. Google and its partners may then use cookies and similar technologies to serve, measure, and — depending on your choices — personalize ads, as described in Google's own documentation: How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps.
You stay in control of that:
- Manage ad personalization in your Google account at adssettings.google.com.
- Block or delete third-party cookies at any time in your browser settings. The game works the same either way.
Whatever the ad settings, ads on Skirmish II never cover the game and never interrupt play.
Children
Skirmish II is a general-audience game. As explained above, we collect no personal data from anyone — including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
